Healthy eating does not need to mean making every meal perfect. It can begin with looking at the variety of foods you eat over time.
Look at the bigger picture
The NHS Eatwell Guide describes a balance across food groups over a day or week. Fruit and vegetables, higher-fibre starchy foods, protein foods, dairy or suitable alternatives, and small amounts of unsaturated oils all have a place.
Choose one practical change
You might add vegetables to a familiar meal, try beans in a recipe or choose a wholegrain version of something you already buy. Keep the change realistic for your budget, preferences and routine.
Individual needs vary. The Eatwell Guide is not designed for children under two, and people with medical or special dietary needs may need tailored advice from a registered dietitian.
