Movement

A little movement. A good place to start.

You do not need a new routine to begin moving more. A familiar route, a comfortable pair of shoes and a small pocket of time can be a starting point.

Make the first step manageable

The NHS highlights walking as a simple way to get more active. A short walk can fit around an ordinary day: before work, during a break or on the way to the shops. Start with a distance and pace that feel manageable, then build gradually.

Think about the everyday opportunities

Look for moments when moving feels practical, rather than treating activity as another big task. Choose a safe route and suitable footwear. If you have concerns about your health or what activity is appropriate, speak with a healthcare professional.
