When the day stays busy until bedtime, winding down can feel difficult. A calmer evening can begin with small, repeatable habits.
Give your evening a familiar rhythm
NHS Every Mind Matters suggests a regular sleep routine and time to relax before bed. Try a quiet activity you enjoy, such as reading, and see whether a consistent bedtime and waking time fit your day.
Notice your surroundings
A quiet, dark and comfortably cool room may help. Think about interruptions, light and whether your phone needs to be beside you. Different people find different arrangements comfortable.
Persistent sleep difficulties deserve support, rather than more pressure to get everything right. A GP or pharmacist can help you explore what may be contributing and what to do next.
